Program Manager
Esther Mumford, M.A., LPCC
Esther is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and the Program Manager of UPAC’s Teen Recovery Center. Since joining UPAC’s Addiction Division as an intern in 2016, Esther fell in love with the resourcefulness and resilience of individuals battling substance abuse. In this field, she has experience working with adolescents, transition age youth (TAY), young adults, adults, and older adults. Esther recognizes the long-term consequences of substance use addiction at a young age and the dire need for adolescents to be plugged into a healthy community. At TRC, Ester’s goal is that every youth is connected to a safe, mature community to help them live in alignment with their true identity and values.
What We Do
At UPAC Teen Recovery Center, our mission is to provide teens and families with the support they need throughout the recovery process. As a leading nonprofit treatment provider, we offer affordable evidence-based care to our teens and provide a safe place where they can connect with others they can relate to.
Our clients engage in group counseling services, case management, drug testing, individual counseling sessions, family counseling sessions and sober activities. All that come through our teen recovery program are treated with respect and dignity and will meet with a counselor that will approach them from a place of empathy and understanding as they guide them to recovery.
Through our clinical expertise and care, we empower teens and restore families. We are a teen treatment center that provides the safety and support that teens and their families need to heal.
Who We Serve
We serve adolescents (ages 12-17 years old) and their families throughout the central San Diego region. Clients can utilize their MediCal insurance for services. We have services available in the afternoon and evenings at multiple locations within our region. If your teenager is enrolled at school within San Diego High, Hoover High, King-Chavez Community High School, and Alba Community Day School, they will be able to access services directly on site.
Families can call (619) 521-5720 to make a referral and learn more about our program. We also receive referrals directly from the school in lieu of suspensions, probation officers and local diversion programs.
