Program Manager
Paola Alvarado, B.A.
Paola Alvarado is the Program Manager at UPAC’s Alternatives to Incarceration. In this role, Paola supports a team providing 24/7 case management services to clients reentering society from incarceration in order to reduce recidivism rates in San Diego. Paola has worked with both the reentry and unhoused populations since her undergrad, and prior to being Program Manager, Paola has served various roles within UPAC working with these populations. Being from the San Diego-Tijuana border area, Paola has become passionate about accessibility and community and believes that we have a collective responsibility to ensure that all of our neighbors have the necessary resources to live a fulfilling life regardless of their background.
What We Do
UPAC, in partnership with NAMI San Diego, provides culturally competent and evidence-based peer outreach and engagement, service navigation, care coordination, peer support and housing related assistance to adults who are homeless or at risk of being homeless and have underlying behavioral health conditions. Our services are trauma informed and inclusive of harm reduction and Housing First principles.
Flex funds are available to improve each participant’s ability to achieve and maintain stable housing.
Who We Serve
The program serves adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and may have a behavioral health diagnosis. Referrals must be made by a justice partner, including the Sheriff’s office, San Diego Police department, District Attorney’s (DA) office and Probation department.
